Carbtune mercury manometers have been in production since the seventies. The Carbtune II is
an innovative mechanical manometer which has the advantages of the mercury Carbtune,
easy to read, accurate, simple, reliable, but it has no mercury or liquids, is compact, easily
transportable and very robust. Carbtune II motorcycle carburetor synchronizer will easily and
accurately sync the throttles on motorbikes and 4-stroke outboards.INSTRUCTIONS. Thank you for buying the Carbtune II. (Patent applied for). You will find it an extremely useful tool. Please read instructions carefully before use. Description. The Carbtune II is a four way mechanical manometer. (Throughout the instructions the four column model will be described. The two column model has half the contents of the four column.) It gives four simultaneous readings so you can balance flow in your carbs or fuel injection throats. It uses stainless steel rods in close fitting guides to indicate vacuum on the scale. The indicator tubes are made from high impact plastic. Damping is by a small airflow restrictor in the rubber connecting tubes. The manometer must be used vertically for a scale starting at 8cmHg (centimetres of mercury) and going to 42cmHg. Normally this is fine as most bikes have readings higher than 8cmHg, but some bikes such as R-series BMWs and two strokes can have readings lower than this. To get a reading below 8cmHg remove the plastic clip from the top cap and insert it in the bottom cap. Hang the Carbtune II upsidedown. Ignore the scale figures. Zero will now be around 14cmHg on the scale but the full width red graduations will still be 2cmHg. Absolute values are not important. Comparisons are important. Contents. Inside the box you should have the gauge body, rubber tubes, the plastic clip which is used to hang gauges from the handlebars (release clip by pushing small tongue on catch), and inside the small plastic bag there are 4 x 5mm brass adaptors, 4 x 6mm brass adaptors, and two small pieces of tubing, one thick wall clear plastic tube, and one ultra fine tube. The ultrafine tube is translucent and very hard to see.
